Vicky Tsai
Dr Tsai completed her PhD studies at the Queensland university, then spent two years as postdoctoral research fellow in academia sinica in Taiwan. In 2007 she joined St Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research (AMR) at St Vincent’s Hosital Sydney as a postdoctoral research scientist, and currently as a group leader within the cytokine and inflammatory program. She also holds a position as conjoint senior lecture at the Faculty of Medicine of UNSW. Dr Tsai’s research focuses on the biology of a cytokine named growth differentiation factor 15, which is involved in a number of processes, especially metabolism. She has authored many of the publications reporting the discovery of GDF15’s role in appetite and metabolic regulation and identified its potential as a treatment for obesity. Today she is going to share with us it’s role in obesity resistance
