The objective of this symposium is to highlight the importance of consumer and community engagement in all aspects of research and share practical strategies when partnering with consumers and people with lived experience. Presenters will share their experiences of how important language is when working with consumers and communities, the context and lived reality of participants, mistakes made, and lessons learned. Attendees will hear how to meaningfully include and partner with consumers throughout the research cycle, be provided with some ideas for engagement, how to “close the loop” with consumers, and what it means to undertake research that is “by communities, for communities”.
